You will be better off getting a good used one. If you want to poor-boy it untill you find a good one try this. Cut a patch from a 1 1/2" copper pipe and form it to cover the hole. Clean around the hole, inside and outside, with a wire brush and sandpaper. The toothbrush sized wire brush works good inside the pipe. Glue the patch over the hole with that high-temp manifold putty. You can get it at any auto supply store. Smooth the inside with your finger moisten in water. Secure the patch with #12 copper wire. The next day, when the putty has hardened, silver solder the wire to keep it from unraveling. I fixed mine this way nine years ago. I average about two hours a week on the tractor and it was still holding when I replaced it this winter.
Found an excellent used one from Community Tractor & Equipment, Inc. I paid just under $150.00 for the manifold, gaskets, and shipping F.O.B. my front porch. They are in Natalia, Texas, just south of San Antonio, Texas.
They are as honest as Abe Lincoln. I sent in my check on a Saturday and the next Tuesday when I came home from work it was on my front porch. The gaskets were missing. It was too late to call them that evening. I would call them the next day. I got busy and forgot that next day. No matter, when I came home that evening the gaskets were on the dining room table with the day's mail.

Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
