I have been using an IH 986 and plan to buy, but it has developed a problem. I need some help! The Hyd - trans indicator light stays on until you get above 1500 rpm, and the power steering is also very very stiff until you get to higher rpm. When the clutch is depressed, the indicator light comes on irregardless of rpm. Even worse, the tractor won't move until you get to higher rpm and then it will lunge, almost throwing you out of the seat.
We have changed the hyd - trans filter and have checked the oil level. It is a late 1978 model with a TA. The TA has not worked in years but they have always kept it in the high position and not had any problems until now.
Does anyone have any ideas? I would like to know something before I buy the tractor.
