On the 42 H im working on I replaced all new bearings in the transmission and differntial and inner and outter rear axle... my old differential was broke (the cast) where it holds the bearing on the one side...so having a spare diff. and bull pinion carrier (which was also broke) I replaced them and got the new bearings in and everthing is tight...now came time to slide the bull gear on the axle. Im currently trying to get the right side(closest to bevel drive gear) when I leave the axle flush with the inner bearing and have the fiance try to slide it in while I line up the splines on the bull gear, I cannot get it to go on. Then without trying to put it on, and just eyeballing it to hold it where it has to be, it looks as if the bull gear will hit the bull pinion carrier, or be very close...it looks like it is sitting in there crooked and a bit of an angle. I put the main shaft in and the drive and bevel gear look real good and mesh well...if anything it could shift a whisker...not much at all thou. How do I know if I have a shim I have to move or what to get these bull gears on? I kept track of the shims when I took off but like i said I am using a different differential and one different bull pinion carrier...Oh and Randy I noted in a picture of yours that you were measuring an angle or some type of measurment on your bevel gear, how do I go about this to make sure everything is alighn? I know it shouldnt be this difficult to get these bull gears on...thanks for the help as always. Bob
