Just had a 1486 delivered a few weeks ago, and finally got to use it last weekend to do some spraying & planting food plots. All works well, with the exception of domething amiss in the hydraulic system.
I'm in the process of getting owners & shop manuals, but until they arrive, thought I would pick your brains.
When going up a VERY steep hill, the tractor will jerk, as if the clutch is slipping, which is what I was fearful that it was. My brother said the same thing happened to him, but he also noticed that the power steering would go out at the same time. In doing some research on this forum, it sounds as though the front mounted pump in conjunction with the mcv is the supplier of pressure for these, as well as other things.
The hydraulic fluid is separate from the transmission fluid on these, right? Where do I check/fill each of the sytems? I'm just wondering if it's maybe just low enough that the pump is being starved of fluid when going up hill. I see where several people recommend overfilling the hydraulics by 5 gallons.
