I may be wrong but I do not believe that the ball is sold seperate from the axle least not from the dealers. The likely reason they didnot use a nut to hold the ball on is that over time it would wobble or rattle off. The cap holds the ball from going side to side and being pulled downward becasue the weight and movement of the tractor on the axle pushes the wishbone up and back for the most part. As for the ball I believe it is only prssed in likely when the axle is hot and expanded hence why it is not welded. So you will have to try heating around the pin to see if the ball/pin will be able to driven out or pressed out or you may have to replace the whole main piece of the front axle.
