I took off all the sheetmetal. Straightened all dents and bends. Sand blasted all that stuff then began primering and block sanding. This took about 8 times. Meanwhile, I sprayed on the oven cleaner on the rest of the tractor. This took about 10 cans of the cheapest stuff you can find. Then after a couple of weeks of this, pressure wash the tractor. Then use a wire brush on a die grinder to knock off any leftover scale. The shoot on the primer and paint. I painted my sheetmetal stuff separate then put it on. I feel this allowed me to get everything covered well. Put it all back together and decal it after a couple weeks. The whole process for me took about 2 1/2 months. Not too bad.

You just want to make sure you have all your leaks and mechanical stuff fixed BEFORE you paint. I think I may have to replace my clutch one of these days before too long and an dreading it now. Oh well, IH paint is cheap.
