1) Check oil level. Check with engine idling after running for two minutes.

Put the range lever in neutral. Move the speed lever to the forward position. Slowly and carefully move the range lever to either the high or low position. You want to check to see if you hear the gears start to clash. If you do not hear any gear clash the hydro transmission is not driving the hydro motor.

If the tractor was working fine when last used the most likely problem is a stuck high pressure relief valve. There are two high pressure relief valves, one for forward and one for reverse. These are pilot operated valves controlled by the Foot-N-Inch pedal. The valves should open at 5000 PSI to protect the hydro from being overloaded. The pressure relief setting is determined by the Foot-N-Inch pedal. As the pedal is depressed the relief pressure decreases. Any use of the Foot-N-Inch valve causes the relief valves inside the hydro unit to open. If either of these valves should stick open the tractor will not move.

The next stage in trouble shooting the problem is to cap off the two lines that go to the Foot-N-Inch valve.

WARNING: CAPPING OFF THE LINES WILL DISABLE THE Foot-N-Inch Valve. YOU WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE MOTION OF THE TRACTOR WITH THE Foot-N-Inch PEDAL. DO THIS ONLY WITH THE REAR WHEELS OFF THE GROUD OR OUTSIDE WHERE YOU HAVE PLENTY OF ROOM.

You will need two 1/4 inch JIC flare caps. These must be steel. Do not use brass. With the caps in place there will no longer be any relief valve pressure setting and brass may burst as pressure is applied. If the tractor now works the problem is in the controls outside the hydro. If it still does not work the problem is internal to the hydro case.
