Michael, this sounds like a great project! I'd suggest looking for some partners in this adventure. Perhaps your school system has a program similar to "Partners in Education" or some other venture which tries to link schools and business together. Perhaps you can find a Case-IH dealer who will offer parts at a substantial discount in return for some favorable publicity. Find someone in your group of kids whom you can assign the job of recording every thing that's done with a digital camera. Push those pictures into your school newspaper, local papers, regional news, whatever you can get into for publicity! Post pictures of what the kids are doing in the local feed store, fertilizer depot, Dairy Queen, or anywhere else people "hang out" and talk! If you get enough folks aware of this, and can produce a quality project, you may be able to find some people who will help out. Look for local businesses that may be willing to participate in any manner which will further this goal. A local body shop might be willing to paint it, or donate the paint if you paint it. Remind all these folks that it's not just a worthy project, but that their donations are tax-deductible! Good luck in your endeavor!

In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
