RB- Thank you Sir, for the idea. I knew in the back of my mind that it was a mistake to throw that rider mower tire in the bonfire last winter... OK, please tell me anything about thickness matters. I'm seeing what looks like about 1/4" needed and was thinking to cut big round "washers" from a car tire sidewall and use them as cushions. I'm amazed that the bottom of the radiator was not damaged when I took it apart. One side had a big steel washer, with something that looked like wore out tar paper stuck to it. The other side had nothing in the way of a cushion. But, the entire area under the radiator was one big mess of dirt, fine vegetation, oil, and ??? else, that was functioning as a cushion between the radiator and the cast iron. Thank you for the reply Sir, IHank
