Were you going to try and put the tractor inside the rental truck? That is highly frowned upon as they have NO TIE DOWNS.. And YOU MUST tie down a tractor or it might pay you a visit in the cab if you need to stop real quick..

There are ways to fabricate tie downs, and use the rear frame of the truck for a rear tie down, but you didn't hear it from me. After all I wouldn't know anything about hauling Ford Torino's inside rental trucks, or VW Bugs, or a Jensen Healey to California from NY. I also wouldn't know anything at all about using a rollback car carrier to load them in. I can say I never did use a U haul even tho it has a much lower deck than Ryder, Budget, and Penske.

Your best bet is to find someone with a car trailer rated at 7000 lbs or more and a good 3/4 ton pickup truck. You could use the U Haul or Ryder trailer and truck (F-350 or equivalent one ton) but don't mention "tractor" to most rental truck dealers. They will have visions of you attempting to transport something huge like a steiger 4 x 4 . They tend to get exceedingly nervous when confronted by something other than a standard automobile tow. ( Can you blame 'em?.. look at the next post! And that's nuthin compared to the dude that used to rent our trailer and go stack crushed cars on it...and I'm sure worse is done!)
