The last five tractors I have been restoring, I try to put everything back to original. Sometimes I just can't find good used parts and have to buy reproduction parts which usually almost fit. It is amazing to me how many parts on these old tractor have been replaced with some other make shift part. People weld things together so they can't be removed for repair, epoxy cracks in castings, wire things together, bypass things, etc. To me that is the challenge of restoring these old tractors, that is finding parts to make it as close as possible to original. The Farmall 350 Diesel I am currently restoring has been the biggest challenge getting engine parts. Restoring a tractor to me is taking every bolt out, cleaning (by sandblasting or power wire brush or whatever depending on end use), replacing bad/missing/wrong parts, reassembling, painting, and then starting and driving. All my restored tractors I only drive for fun and show. I have two other tractors for work. I know many will disagree, but my biggest pet peeve about tractor restoration is those who convert 6 volt tractors to 12 volt. Roger
