Ya about all you can try with that one is seeing if it will hold oil, odds are it will need a new seal or two. Also there is a nut and stud on each side of the case, I think numbers 29+30 in the diagram, that if you loosen the nut and tighten the stud, than retighten the nut it will help to take some of the play out from gear wear. We did that on our 340U and it is alot better now. Ya like you said the 340 and 460Us can be a bear to steer, its the big drawback to them. If somebody ever starts rebuilding the steering boxs and making parts for them, I think theyd be sitting on a good business.
