BOBWA, I have a F-20 that has a elect. starter on it and the mag was modified like what you done. But a 6 volt coil was used, Who ever done it did a real nice job with a grommet where the wire came through for the points and a small machine bolt was double nutted for the coil wire to attach on the outside of the cap, The outer nut was knearled so you could remove it with your fingers. This was setup like that when I bought the tractor back 40 years ago. I ran it for years like that and it worked good, But I changed it back to a mag when I restored the tractor.
