The gasket between the axle housing and rear frame can be replaced with RTV silicone sealant without removing the PTO or bull gear.
Drive the wheel on the side you are going to repair onto a board or plywood that you have smeared with grease where the tire will rest. Drain the gear lube. Remove the drawbar. Remove two bolts, one in front and one in the rear of the axle housing. Replace them with bolts at least one inch longer. The length is not too important since you will only be using them as guide pins and the bull gear will limit how far the housing will move. Jack up and support the rear frame until most of the weight is off of the tire on the side you are working on. Remove the rest of the bolts and slide the wheel and axle outward. The grease will help the tire slide. Scrape the old gasket out. Clean both gasket surfaces with brake cleaner or carb cleaner. It needs to be something that will dry without leaving a residue. The RTV will not seal if there is any oil or grease on either surface. Run a 1/8 inch bead of RTV about in the center of where the gasket was. Put a circle of RTV around each bolt hole. Reassemble the housings within 15 minutes of when you started to apply the RTV.
