the lip side goes towards the T/A and this is where everybody gets in trouble as when ya start installing the T/A assy. the lip will catch and roll . At one time there was a special tool made to make this instalation go with out a hitch . So before ya pound that seal in take a close look at it and you will see what i am talken about . IT has to seal the oil in the T/A and not let it leak out to the clutch side .when i install them i have used shim stock of .002 so the square edge of the T/A does not get hung on the lip and cut or roll the lip . If you have a dental pick that is thin this can help by gently easing the lip over the seal surface as you side the assy. in . When ya have it installed make sure that ya get the nut for the T/A clutch flywheel TIGHT i have seen way tomany of them get lose.
