You got it! I worked a deal with Dad to buy the tractors and other equipment along with the barn that sets between us. My sister and I get along fine, and we made sure the deal was all open and up-front in terms of what we were doing. I know that when Dad's gone, this is going to GREATLY simplify dealing with family members that have NO idea what the stuff is worth, and NO sentimental attachment to any of it.

When I told Dad I wanted him to sell me the barn, his initial response was "Well...you'll have no trouble getting it when I'm gone..." Then I explained to him that I didn't want to be in a position of having to arrange things in a hurry, or deal with cleaning out all the stuff he's squirrelled away in there since 1939 for a sale! He said "Well.....you're not gonna want all that stuff....." And I said "Sell me the barn and all contents. Then the "stuff" is mine too, and I can keep or get rid of it at my own pace!" We worked a deal, informed my sister beforehand and offered her chance for input. She was relieved that she wouldn't have to deal with any of that someday, and I was relieved that I wouldn't be picking through it with my brother-in-law!!
