Jim, I install about 25 clutches a year from Agparts and I have no problems. there are two different clutch's for a 966. you should of used a #405301 ppa with a #104493 4 pad disc or a #104494 6 pad. to get back to that lincage. I can't seem to find it in a book but if remember right the clutch boster spring should push the pedal up to the stop. with the front rod unhooked from the throw out bearing you should adjust the rear rod so the pin will will be free in the clutch pedal when it is up against the upper pedal stop. at this point you should have atleast an inch of thread showing on the lower adjustment with 5/8" free play. if not then either the cluch is wrong or maybe at some point some one changed the lingage rods or did some custom modifications to to the lincage instead of fixing the clutch.the only way I can think of to check this would be to find another 966 and mesure the rods.
