First time I"ve seen one of them for many years. Dad"s uncle and first cousins ran a milk company for nearly 80 years. The old man was my grandfather"s brother and they started on the family farm around 1915. Initially two of the six brother"s were partners. One of them died in 1944 and so, Uncle Bill and his son"s went solo from that point forward and over the years they had LOTS of delivery trucks.
When I was a kid in the early 60"s, they gave us an IH truck very similar to this one pictured...I always thought it was a "56 model. Anyway...it had sit down and stand up gas and brake pedals....so the driver could just hop in and motor away without getting in the seat! The reason they got rid of that truck so soon....it was maybe 5 years old...it had an automatic transmission and they could never keep it in service. Finally they parked it. It had an OHV 6, I plainly recall that. I never seen it under power, but it was all there. We used it for a camper on the river bank!We hooked the old Oliver to it and moved down where we wanted it. Finally, in the late 80"s, the property sold and the old truck...shot full of holes and pretty rusty...was junked.
