One of the studs was rusted nearly through and broke off mine when I was removing it. My radiator guy told be the studs are made onto a larger plate that is riveted and soldered into the bottom tank of the radiator. He said if I wanted he could remover the lower tank, take the plate out, replace the stud and reassemble it all, but it would be expensive.
His alternative repair was to cut the stud off flush, weld a new stud onto a u-shaped bracket shaped to the bottom of the tank and solder it on. I worked fine installed like stock and isn't readily visible from the outside.
Take yours to your radiator guy and I'll bet he has a viable fix.
