It’s been a long time coming, but we are finally on the home stretch of our 1948 Super A restoration. After countless hours of disassembly, cleaning, repairing, straightening sheet metal, ordering and waiting for parts, we are finally putting her back together. My son and I are restoring this tractor for his High School Senior Project.

By the time he/we are finished with this project, we will have held every nut, bolt, gasket, seal, part, you name it, and carefully checked and re-checked everything on this tractor. The engine has undergone a complete rebuild; the bearings and oil slinger have been replaced in the transmission and differential, and we just started reassembling the finals yesterday.

Between attending tractor and engine shows, planning and putting a show locally this past year ourselves, working, and school it has been busy and slow going on the SA. I must say, this has been a great father/son project and we have shared many enjoyable hours tinkering down in the barn.

Now it is decision time as to what paint to use for our tractor, I’m looking to find the best manufacturer for the correct color and durability, we are open to your input. Over the years, I asked questions and made comments, but mostly I’ve enjoyed this site and the collective Farmall community with a cup of coffee every morning before heading off to work. Thank you everyone for your help, you may not know it, but your contributions have assisted us with our tractor! Oh yea, I’ll post pictures as it comes together, here is where we started.

Today's Featured Article - Box Plow Blues - by Tom Schwarz. One of the first implements most tractor owners obtain is the box plow. For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U ... [Read Article]
