Mark: I have had one apart, there is some clearence, but I don't think it would be enough to give one a large enough lower shaft gear to reduce enough slower than 1st.
Are you familiar with Hydra Creeper drive. Decent little device, however one could not use the PTO while using the Hydra Creeper. It was basically a hydraulic motor on the PTO shaft and driven by a remote valve on the tractor. It came with a heavy duty clutch release bearing, and one tied the clutch down during use.
I've toyed with the idea of a modified PTO, placing the output shaft close to center rear of tractor. Then use a hydraulic pump and motor to give motive power to wheels. I've looked at placing the motor at front driving bottom shaft of transmission. This would require modification of torque tube.
