The easiest solution is to compress the clutch pressure plate using three of the 6 mounting bolts. remove every other one, and put them into the clutch cover (pretty obvious visible spot) As they are installed and tightened (not all at once, do it in stages) the fingers will move forward allowing additional wiggle room in the shaft. It is still a case of geometry and juggling. If you try to put it together wrong, it will be very frustrating. Look at the diagram and it will go in, no split is needed. To replace the clutch yes, to put in the shaft no. The holes are remnant access holes for a belly pump Liftall system your tractor may have had at one time, or possibly never had. The space can often be used for a hydraulic reservoir if one is fabricated to fit the space and hole location. I hope this helps. JimN
