Becarefull forcing it off. I have seen several get cracked at the step down for the belt pulley. Those threaded rod looking things are studs and are removed by putting on a nut and tightening it down, the stud will pull up and out. Belt pulley should be off when removing the cover. Also remember the cover is one big chunk of cast iron and it has the shifter forks going down to the trans gears so be careful to lift it as straight as possible and from the left side first. You will want to have help for this! I would do it by hand so nothing gets forced. I used a stiff bladed putty knife to get it started and went around the sides carefully with several screw drivers and gently pried it up. Mine was stuck pretty good also but it weighs so much it fooled me to think it was stuck worse than it was. Are you the guy on the north side of Indy?
