I am considering purchasing another Farmall M with a wide front end. This a basic tractor with a stationery draw bar, original paint and rust, rear weights, 12 volt, operable pto and lites. The engine starts quickly and runs very smooth. The tires are 50 to 60% and the sheet metal is straight. All gauges work. The problem is the wide front end. The center of the axle is about 8 to 10" in front of the frame. On my 2 WFE "M"s, the front axle sets under the front part of the tractor frame. The axle on the subject tractor is a standard IH axle but the pivot mount appears to bolted too far ahead on the tractor frame. The stabilizer brace is in place. Why is this axle positioned like this? Was it a retrofit from a single front wheel or a narrow front end? What is a reasonable price for this tractor? Thanks Ray (medfarm)
