I ran a wanted add in the classifeds here for some parts for my 404 and got responses right away. The Case/IH site has a full parts list for your tractor. It's the best way I've figured out to determine exaclty what parts are needed for a given job. Once you know all of what's needed you can start googling by part number or description. And one of the guys that's been here longer will probably be along shortly to give you some better places to start.
One other thought I'll pass on - Don't frustrate yourself trying to convert a manual steer 404 to power steering. Unless you have a doner tractor with p/s complete, you're going to be locating and buying quite a few expensive parts, not the least of which are a $500 hydraulic pump and a different front axle assembly.
As light as the tractor steers I can't see how it would be worth it unless you're planning on hanging a heavy loader on the front.
