Hi, I re-wired my 1943 Farmall H exactly how Bob M's wiring diagram showed. Everything seems to be working good. One night I was putting the front wheels back on the tractor and I needed more light, so I turned on the DIM headlights when the tractor was not running. While I was working, I could smell something burning, so I looked at the Dash (switch box) and there was smoke coming from it, I quickly pulled off the Positive battery cable (ground). It was too dark to see inside the switch box, but I felt all the wires on the tractor and they were not hot or anything. The next day, I took apart the switch box to check the fuse. It is the correct amps and was not blown. Nothing I could see had any signs of being "burned" or damaged, everything looked normal. This is strange, what is causing this??? I have not turned on the lights since then.
