Sure: With everything connected and the tractor running with battery charged, Use a jumper wire to ground the field lead (smaller)of the generator to a clean bright spot on the tractor. The Amp gauge should go up in the charge direction about 8 to 10 amps. This tests the generator output. If it only goes to zero, or a bit above, the generator may need to be checked.
If it charges when jumped as above, the possible problem might be the Voltage regulator. Use the Search for box above and put in John T trouble shooting in the box. Good stuff.
