I'm glad that you were not permanently wounded. Some years ago my uncle had a JD430 Utility(I have the tractor today) The battery box is right behind the dash and there is a spring operated plate that goes up against the side of the battery. It had a #35 loader on it also,. IN order to pull the battery out you have to depress the clutch and pull the battery out on top of it. My uncle had pulled the battery out and cleaned connections then restarted the tractor. He pushed the battery back in, releasing the clutch and the tractor moved foreward, in gear. The loader came up against something but he was caught with the wheel grinding against his hip. He eventually got away from it but suffered permanent nerve damage to the hip and spent a couple weeks in the hospital.
