I have a 24 Oldsmobile 6cyl with a Delco (not Delco Remy)igniton system. My Olds has a 60s chevy distributor on it at the time being with the advance welded and the vacuum removed so the spark lever works right, but I have the original Delco,but the pot metal has failed on it. It has a long condenser under the cap. If the new condenser is under the cap and out of sight, it shouldn't make much difference until you find a good correct condenser.I need a Delco distributor for My Olds, but one from a 24 Buick is the exact same. My Take on electronic ignition for a low compression, low RPM engine is that it is just not needed at all and is a waste of money. As for reliability, points are points, they are just a switch. the newer condensers are better than the NOS or originals as the materials are not as prone to breakdown from age. I would just use your old points and new condenser and a new 6v coil. My car is a touring and the original coil mounted under the dash. I am not sure where they are mounted on enclosed cars, but I bet they are under dash also to keep them out of the heat as they couldn't take much. The old ones back then were not often oil filled and the insulation laquer on the windings would cook easily.
