Fellows.......I gotta prob with the 400

Well, if it wasn't for bad luck I'd have none at all. Awhile back a few of you know I purchased an IHC 400. I'm beginning to learn now why the IHC stood for "in hell constantly" (jokingly). Anyways, brought it home and it had a miss. I put on a new cap, rotor, points, and condensor. Started er up and she ran like a top. Then the other day I used it to feed the tubgrinder for about two hours. No probs. Go out today to fill the feed wagon after feeding the bossies and she misses like you wouldn't believe. Almost sounded like a johnny popper. At an idle she run's pretty decent. At wide open she sputters.....literally. Sounds like she is just sputtering through the exhaust pipe. When I started her up I took her outside to warm up. Choke was completely off and she was spewing out some black smoke. Now I thought maybe the choke was stuck on so when pulling it back out again it pulled hard all the way like always. Choke stuck, ruled out. I havn't done anything to it yet except take off the front part of the comfort cover to get to the engine. Anybody have an idea where to start? I thought about pulling plugs and seeing if they needed cleaned again. The guy I bought it from said he had just cleaned them that day and I havn't put 10 hours on it since. Sorry for the long posting......just hoping for some answers. TIA
