These 39 H's and M's are definatly allot different then later models but it also went into part of 40 before they changed. Ive been doing allot of reserch on all the differences and hope to one day maybe put all I have learned on a web site. I own M sn 529 and H sn 9731. Just to give a couple examples of the differences are the petcocks on the oil pan are bent 1/4" rod instaid of the diamond butterflys. The front gas tank support is made of small peices of steel all welded togather instiad of being cast. of course the plateform and seat that you pointed out allready and also a different crank and fly wheel just to name a few. It seeams almost every day im learning a little something different about them.
