Hate to say this, but the man was "deaf" not "death", and was using a relay service to contact you. A deaf person uses either a computer or a video phone to contact an operator at the relay service, and the operator translates typing, in case of a computer, or sign language in the case of a video phone, for the person on the other end of the call. I see nothing to indicate this was a scam. Its simply a person who's hearing isn't good enough to use a normal phone making a call through the relay service. I think you owe the man an appology. Keith PS...we have a couple of adopted special needs children with hearing problems - I'm very familiar with the relay service.
