Al: Thank you very kindly, living this close to the border, I see a lot of Americans like to get in on our party. We drove most of the distance from Sarnia ON- Port Huron MI to Niagara Falls yesterday, saw a lot of NY, MI, IN and OH plated cars on the road. Probably most of them being folks travelling to and from NY to MI for your party next week, and decided, what the hell we may as well party with the Canadians on our way.

We got caught up in this same thing 2-3 years ago, visited with Bob and Glenda Mellville at Rochester NY, on the afternoon of June 30th, then headed home to Canada. The traffic across that border and up the 6 lane QEW was unbelievable. They did dispurse a bit at Hamilton, but it was still heavy. I got home that night and wondered if there had been a mass evacuation of upstate NY.

Thanks again and you folks have a great party on Wed. 4th of July. One thing about this year corn is hip high by 4 of July, not just knee high.

Funny also you mention the term Dominion Day, it has been called Canada Day since about mid 1960s. Most young Canadians don't even know what you are talking about if you call it Dominion Day. I had this happen just this past week, and the group of 40 year old folks I was talking with, asked what the hell I was talking about. "Dominion Day"

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
