International Harvester 2500B Constructal (diesel) what tran

Hi, you all know tractors very well so Im hoping you can help a new comer out. We bought a nice International Harvester 2500 constructal that needs some TLC but is in sound condition otherwise (not counting a bad 2nd gear). Its a diesel 4 cylinder with 4 speed transmision. Has front end loader and backhoe. I think it was a good deal at $4450. We are replacing all hydraulic hoses since it was outside last 2 years (it WILL be kept in shed from now on). We are draining oil changing filters and hydro oil aswell.
The question. IS this a combo system where the hydro is also the tran fluid. If so what would you recomend to use in it. I have the service and parts manual but doesnt really say! Exact year not known but told was pre-80's. Probably late 70's. I can get the numbers off tractor if instructed where to look for them. I "think" its a shuttle shifter since a lever is used to go from forward to backward??? Another lever moves hydro power from power steering to the back-hoe waist hydro's.
Ive wanted a real tractor since I was a kid and now at near 30 I finally got one. Found your great site and hope to learn as much as I can from you. Ive built many car and truck motors so I know how to turn a wrench and do some machining and welding. Just......well this stuff here is all new to me. So Im not going to assume I know anything (since I dont) Please help me and any tips will also be very appreciated. Thanks,
