51 Cub Piston rings - how to install

Hi All,
I just got my cub engine back from the engine shop and want to start to put back together. I have new oversize cast iron flat top pistons and need to install the ring set - 'Red Power' by Perfect Circle. The directions are pretty good except for the oil ring, talks about the thin steel rings that go on either side of the oil ring, but then there is another thin "clip spring" with 7 sides that completes a "circle". This looks like it would go in the grove flat side wraps around the piston. Where it's job is to keep the oil ring an equal distance from pushing in against the piston. So that's my question, is this the way it should be installed? Or Not? The engine shop tossed my old pistons so I do have them to compare.
