I hear you! I too cringe when I see someone parting out a tractor on eBay but then again, when I need parts to help restore mine - where do I go? eBay.

What I can not stand is when they set a reserve or starting bid high to cover the scrap value which is always much higher than I feel than can really obtain. And then they say of nobody wins it it is going to the scrap man. If you don't want it then in the interest of preserving these old beasts start it low and let the market determine its value otherwise you are just trying to make money and restoring old tractors is a passion not a money making venture (my two cents)

Granted I occasionally sell excess parts on Ebay but I use the funds to purchase new equipment (save them from the scrap man) or parts to save the ones I already have. I would never send any decent parts to scrap. I would rather give them away to someone before they go to scrap and have in the past and I am sure I will again.

In fact, I will be listing some parts on ytmag and eBay soon from some early spring cleaning that are in that boat.

I have seen some folks here on ytmag (that also sell on eBay) that have given folks the opportunity to purchase a complete tractor at a decent price whole before they parted it out and I applaud those sellers and I try to reward them with my part business when possible.

Ok I will get of my soap box. I hope I did not offend anyone that does part out tractors as I and others have said, we need parts for ours so some tractors will have to be sacrificial lambs as long as you give all the tractor parts the opportunity to find good homes and send no good parts to scrap without a fair fight!
