I have never replaced a solenoid. Someone else that post on this forum may have had a problem. The only problem I had with solenoid's were corroded cable connections. That corrosion will act like an insulator. Take a look at new one and give it a good shaking that may be normal. One other thing I had with them were the brass discs inside the solenoid from all that arcing when you make a start. I just rotated them so they had a new area to arc on. It was usually very hard to do this on cars since you have very little room to work. I would pull the starter and sometimes I would just buy a rebuilt starter. Hal PS: Have you tried another good battery? I use the best batteries from Walmart that have the 3 year free replacement. They are about $70.00 with an exchange. I even have one on my garden tractor and its about 5 years old.
