H M original muffler difference

My bother-in-law sez that the original muffler on a H had a smaller diameter exhaust pipe coming out of the muffler on an H compared to a M. Rest of the muffler the same, just smaller exit pipe. Has he been sitting on his M too long breathing in the fumes, or do I have to acknowledge that he is right again. Thx SKK
