I knew it! Guess my trouble is, I remember these red tractors when they were brand spankin' new and I remember how they acted. They just did not have that "gear noise" in the rear end nor did they have the vibration under your feet. Stopped in at the red shop today to see how my 966 was doing. Two bad carrier bearings, a bad forward pinion bearing and of course it now needs a ring gear and pinion because they dropped and got chewed up from being out of preload. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought someone used the tractor for a puller. Tractor has worked real hard in it's lifetime. Good news is that the bulls/axle bearings are like new, the hitch piston only needs resealed and the transmission lock only needs adjusted correctly. Yep, it's gonna be expensive to a degree, but now I know the tractor is totally new bumper to bumper. And, total money I've spent on this tractor still wouldn't even pay the interest on a new one. I'm glad I took it to town. :>) Allan
