I just acquired a 706 and found that it would not stay in high range , it would jump out under aload. I checked the external linkage and that appeared fine. I manually shifted it on top of the cover and it still jumps out. I pulled the top cover which I found to have been replaced and could find nothing out of whack. I then looked at the shift collar and could see no problems, also looked at the high gear splines and could see no excesseive wear. I then manually slid the shift collar and engaged high range and started the tractor and put a load on it and it did not jump out of gear and worked fine. The shift fork had been built up but appeared straight. open to any ideas. Thanks in advance.
