My 300 leaks oil from the lower end of the gearbox where the steering pivot shaft runs through the upper bolster. Is there an effective way to stop this without removing the shaft and replacing the seal? I want to replace the seal if this is what needs to be done but I'm worried about getting in over my head - I've never done this before. Also, if I pull the shaft, should I try to replace the upper and lower end bushings in the bolster and the lower thrust bearing? When I raise the front end off the gound, the pivot shaft drops down (through the lower casting)a tiny bit before the wheels leave the ground and once they're off the ground, there is a tiny bit of side to side and front to back play between the shaft and the lower casting (bolster). I would appreciate any words of wisdom on this that will keep me out of trouble. Thanks in advance. Steve.
