Char-Lynn Power Steering Replacement Seals for SMT

Just finished putting in new seals into the SMTA Char-Lynn torque generator. It has leaked for years (all over the engine). Whoever mentioned it on this board last weekend was exactly right. The seals I removed were round o-rings (it had the wrong o-rings in it). The replacement kit seals from Force America are the square o-rings and they fit precisely down into the depressions in the housing. Only needed 3 seals for the unit besides the 2 where the hoses go. There are 4 large housing o-rings that it did not need because it is an older unit. The newer units need them it says. Putting new seals in tightened up the shaft slightly. It can still be turned by hand, but is a little tighter which is probably normal. It clicks okay when turned. The unit bolts up to a plate that has 2 gauges on it. There are supposed to be 3 bolts holding the unit to the plate, but one is gone and the threads in the hole in the unit are stripped out (for 1 bolt), so it only had 2 bolts holding it in place. I wonder if this is much of a safety issue? The 2 were holding it fine and I think if it were loose, I would hear it knocking around and the steering shaft would still be functioning okay. I am wondering if I should tap some threads in the stripped out hole for a new bolt? Any thoughts on this? I am impressed with Force America. I ordered the seal kit Wednesday at noon (yesterday) and it arrived today (Thursday) at 5:00 PM.
