Well I went and drove it today. I"ve seen them working before, but never ran/sat in one so I didn"t really know what I was doing. The dealer just handed me the key, guess he didn"t have time to come answer questions as I was trying. "Looks" very, very nice. It pulled something like a 16" disk if I remember correctly, but he wasn"t sure if that was all, and I don"t remember for sure if that"s what it was, 16" something anyway. It has been parked in a corn crib since "98 (estate deal), filters/fluids are at least that old other than that hydraulic filter. Took about 10 seconds to start, batteries were about dead (he said they were new ones, possibly starting lately without enough running). Tach read 2 to 3000+ rpm at idle (50 when off), and the oil light that goes on when you push the clutch stayed on without it being pushed in, but would go off, and come back on. I let it idle a minute then sped it up to about 3500 rpms..., I tried working with the 3 point, it would go down, but I couldn"t get it to go up beyond a very slow pace, barely moving. I worked a little with the rate/load levers (all the ones there anyway, put them toward the light/rabbit ends), I couldn"t get any different result. He said something about load sensing, but I have never been around something like that. I backed it up, engine sounds good, but reverse seems a little fast. Engine sounds good, but when starting in gears, low rpms, has no power, much less than my 1855 Oliver. I killed it a couple times, I described it to a different dealer I went to, he said that it was normal, you have to have more rpms to start. Could get used to that but the shifter would be very hard to get used to compared to how easy the one in my Oliver is (and being able to take off in most gears under load while idling). Steering seemed what I"d call hard, sort of like having some resistence, like when the pump went out of my tractor before..., but I"ve never driven another one to compare it to. I"m kind of curious why that one hydraulic filter was all they changed, not even the fuel filter, so I kind of wonder if something is going on with that. Well anyway, they want $16,900 firm, and I don"t know of any decent other ones within driving distance to look at (no time to drive far, this one"s 75 miles). I suppose a person would pay that and any repairs/filters beyond that. I don"t think at that price that I"ll look at it, but I don"t quite know what to do with nothing around to look at.
