Hi Fellas, Here's the deal. I've got 56 acres of ground, of which 10 acres is just plan old-fashioned virgin buffalo sod that has been pastured since 1935 and the remainder is in 5 or 6 year old alfalfa. Heck, maybe it’s 10 years old, I dunno. I can tell the alfalfa was just planted to field run stuff and all of this soil is heavy loam to clay. This 56 acres needs to be pulled into a wheat ready seedbed by next year; September of '07. I've been watching a neighbor and he just tills this type of stuff with a big heavy John Deere disc. Seems to work for him. I don't have that luxury. I've got an IH plow and I've got a IH 370 disc. Do you suppose if I started after the frost this year with that disc and popped it a time or two before winter, that I could get it worked deep enough to grow wheat next fall? Or, maybe even if the discing doesn't work all that well, I could still have the option to hit it with the plow in the spring and wouldn't have the "sod fight" to contend with? I've got the rest of the place shaped up pretty darned good, but for some reason, tying into that last patch with the plow this fall is puttin' me off a little. Thanks for you thoughts, Allan
