I am sure you have a bad ground in the light bar mount. The battery neg terminal should be connected to a starter bolt for best current transfer. The cables should be 0 gauge or 00 gauge. The post is probably poorley grounded, and the current is traveling through the gauge tube. Fix this before it ruins the gauge, or starts a fire. A bad regulator or shorted diode would drain the battery very rapidly, or at best overnight. and it probably would not charge. Ground problem it is. JimN
