Hugh: It is a Farmall A rear end just because of the hand lift, casting #s, and lack of hyrdraulics. It seems to have Super A sheet metal. Unless I miss my guess, this block looks like the A, except it has a plate over the hydraulic port, and it has the pulley on the tube at the lower part of the block, to better circulate the antifreeze. I havent heard the tractor run, but it doesnt matter much to me, because, like I said, if you break it down by component, the parts are worthwhile. I dont have casting numbers for this engine, but I told the guy I would get back with him tomorrow. If I buy it, I will post some pictures. I am almost certain it is an A rear end. I am just mulling this over, so I thought I would get some input from guys who deal with these more than myself. Thanks for all of the input.
