JM: No expert experience although I did buy a 1066 with cab new. After all these years of bumping and grinding I suspect your idea of rewiring the complete cab is a good one. Cheap insurance against fires and fires do make a mess of otherwise good tractors, especially tractors with cabs.

I did split out my 1066 lights into 3 separate circuits and switches. I did this as I was adding rear and side working lights. I remember leaving head lights on factory switch and adding separate fuse circuits and switches, one for flashers and signals and a second for rear and side working lights. I must have had a good wiring diagram and it must have come from either operators manual or the Blue Ribbon service manual, as I had both. Down through the years IH always provided good wiring diagrams in operators manuals. My 1066 was the factory ROPS cab. I also added an Excell cab that came from a 1066, on my 656, and wired it very similar and added same lighting as I did with 1066. I then put the flat top fenders from 656 on 560 and wired that one very similar. I am not an electrical whizz kid, thus I must have had good diagrams. Never had a fire so must have got it right as I used each of those tractors well over 10,000 hours.
