I've done Super A and C, which would be same as a 140. I've taken the PTO unit off to do it. If it is a late model 140 with the newer thin seal, the trick of drilling and pulling may work. However if it's the old type thick seal, it's going to be really hard to get out that way. If you remove the pto unit, you must use a puller to get the gear off the shaft as the woodruff key prevents driving the shaft out. The key will catch on the bearing race. Once the gear is out, it's pretty easy, the shaft will come right out toward the outside, and the bearings come out easily as i recall. Then you can just drive or press out the old seal and press in the new one. Also, I believe you have to remove the shifter mechanism. It's a pain, but removing the pto unit I belive is more likely to result in a good job. If you need a gasket for the PTO unit, send me an E mail. I have some NOS gaskets.
