I"d take a look under the valve cover to see the oil drains back to sump are clean and open. If the valve cover is flooding due to increased oil pressure driving more oil up top that can lead to oil consumption. The pressure lubricated points are mainly the crank, cam, and top end etc and pretty much with the exception of flooding the top side have no direct effect on oil consumption. Oil path to the cylinders is pretty muck past worn rings or down the valve stems. Perhaps you"ve gone to a different oil or changed something else, or maybe you are working it harder now. The harder you work a tired motor the more oil consumption you will see.
