I've had some phone conversations with the owner of a 300 Utility that is for sale. There is a major mess somewhere inside the engine. He claims that a few years ago he had an engine job done after the tractor had "camshaft" problems, exactly what the problem was he doesn't know but it was apparently rebuilt by somebody else. Then this year, he was driving it and it suddenly quit. On closer examination, he says it spins over with the starter but the valves aren't moving (after taking off the valve cover). Sounds like another camshaft problem, probably a sheared off cam gear? Not knowing much about IH engines, anybody out there venture a guess as to what happened or what is causing this? Is this a common problem on those engines? Is this the same engine as in a Farmall H? Thanks for the help.
